It's summertime and I've definitely been channeling my inner mermaid. Whether it's lounging by the pool, visiting a waterpark or heading to the beach, I am all about soaking up the sun and having a good time this season.
Since I live in South Florida, you're probably thinking I'm at South Beach every chance I get. But, truth be told my favorite beach spot is actually a little ways north in the beautiful city of Hollywood, Florida.
Yes, the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk is where you can find me this summer and if you're planning on visiting South Florida this summer, you should definitely add it to your list of places to visit. Here's why...
It's Perfect For Chill Vibes
I've visited Hollywood Beach for years now and it's the perfect space for chill, non-party people like myself. This 2.5 mile spread of beach won't have you stressed out over finding parking spots in alleys ten blocks away or fighting for an optimal spot on the sand. Even on a booming day, the beach has plenty of parking in it's garage (it's quite affordable, I might add) and is never overcrowded with people. So if you want an escape from people...this is the spot.
There's Affordable Food & Drink Options
If you're a tourist and no one's told you yet, South Beach is overpriced...seriously overpriced. I understand "the experience", BUT if you're looking to experience South Florida beach cuisine without breaking the bank, Hollywood Beach is the perfect spot to do so.
Along the boardwalk there's plenty of spots to try! I tend to pack snacks, but if I'm ever hungry during my time out there my favorite spots to eat/drink are The Taco Spot for drinks (get the pineapple piña, you'll thank me later), Florio's of Little Italy for a slice of pizza and LandShark Bar & Grill at Margaritaville. There's also a cute ice cream truck parked somewhere along the beach that has $2 cones for dessert, so be on the lookout!
It's Well Maintained
At the end of the day, a beach is a public space and sometimes there's only so much you can do to "maintain" it. While it's impossible to expect a beach to be super clean and disinfected of any germs, I will say every time I've visited Hollywood Beach it's been pleasantly clean. Whether it's smoothing out the sand or simply seeing boardwalk employees picking up trash, my perception has always been that actual care/maintenance has been put into this spot and the effort by the city of Hollywood has not gone unnoticed.
While these are my top reasons why you should visit Hollywood Beach, FL, there's countless others! From water activities to luxury resort options along the boardwalk, there's something for everyone here.
