I'm happy to FINALLY share what has been going on behind the scenes for weeks. Yes, I said weeks. I've been staying afloat with She's Candid, running Black Bloggers United and now I'm adding something else to my plate.... (#DoingTheMost). While I started my own YouTube channel back in the day, the content that I've been producing hasn't completely satisfied my vision. Realistically speaking I know I'm no videographer BUT I truly love the idea of producing video content and so does Ashley.
I posted a tweet last week sharing how I've stopped checking my social media first thing in the morning. It was a nasty habit I had so I unlearned the idea of constantly reaching for my phone to see if I missed anything while I was asleep.
It's Sunday morning, I've been up since about 6a lollygagging and thinking about what my life has been over the past few months. To some, it would look like it's a complete mess, but to me it's not as bad as it could be. I'm currently unemployed, working on making my dreams come true and I'm not homeless yet...so there's a lot to be grateful for in this scenario.
To say last year was one of the most trying, yet rewarding would be an understatement. From personal development to learning so much about the endless possibilities in the blogging world, let's just say I took in a lot last year. I may not have made any huge leaps or strides, but your girl was soaking in all the gems in 2016.
Now I know you've seen this chocolate man with me quite a bit recently and there's definitely a reason for it. I opened up about our relationship a while back in my college love story post, but left it with uncertainty of where we were heading. He lives in a different city...in a different COUNTRY, so we were skeptical that we could make things work.
I know, you're probably thinking is this girl really posting an article a blog post the week AFTER her birthday...and I absolutely am. I let the news of Trump get me into a funk, but it will not trump me continuing to produce content. I let this man really get to me on my special day and put a damper on my week. Nope, not going to happen anymore.
Subscription boxes have become THE thing to sign up for to get products delivered to your doorstep. Whether it's hair products, makeup, clothing or even food, there's seriously a box out there for everything and for anyone.
You have no idea how many times I've thought about this in the last 24 hours. No idea how many times I've put myself in my mother's shoes and contemplated what I'd do if I were in her shoes. Absolutely no idea how I felt when I got that message that my mother left her appointment out of humiliation.
I had the honor of graduating from Florida International University this past August and let me tell you, it was a long time coming. If you really break down how long we've been in school, (16 years to be exact), there's no better feeling then knowing you are finally done. As I walked across the stage I knew in my heart all those years had paid off and I could breathe for a second.
I didn’t realize a lot of things about life until I went away from college; I thought the world was this hunky dory bubble where everything was dandy and nothing was really all that bad. Seriously, I was blind to so many things happening in the world it’s actually crazy thinking back to my 18 year old self. Going to college opened up so many avenues outside of the classroom that I truly believe wouldn’t even be accessible to me had I not gone.
