Birthday Trip To Bermuda
Up until last year, I didn't have a passport. I wasn't a world traveler, didn't think to travel outside of the country and really never realized how big and beautiful this world is. Hell I only saw bits and pieces on television, never truly grasping that I could get up and go see it all for myself.
Last year I shared my first trip to Bermuda and it changed everything! Since I've had the travel bug, traveling primarily within the states, taking five trips this past year alone with more planned for 2018.
My favorite trip for 2017 by far was spending my birthday on my favorite island, Bermuda. Although I visited last year, the beauty of this place never ceases to amaze me. From the beautiful homes to the I-can't-believe-it's-actually-turquoise water, Bermuda is a MUST visit in your lifetime (trust me).
Although only 22 miles in size, this island has TONS to offer to us tourists. During my time away I got to visit some of my favorite spots, including Church Bay, as well as discovering new adventurous spots like Blue Hole Park that featured stunning crystal caves.
I even ventured out into a bit of nightlife this time around (shocking I know), visiting a few of the hot spots on Front Street. If you plan to bar hop, I suggest making a stop at The Dog House, The Pickled Onion (loved their drinks), Flanagan's Irish Pub (get a Bermudian Swizzle), and Muse.
With late nights and a few on the run moments, I primarily ate home cooked cuisine or grab and go style during my trip. To be honest everything I ate was superb, so if you plan to visit add these quick spots to your list of places to eat at:
- Jor-jay's Food Truck: Not sure if I spelled this right and I couldn't find it online, but it's a small food truck on Front Street that has AWESOME burgers. If you plan to check out nightlife, stop by Jorg-jay's afterwards for great late night food.
- Savory Kernels: THE BEST POPCORN SPOT EVER. They have every flavor you can think of, from traditional flavors like caramel, kettle corn, cheddar cheese, etc., to flavors like rosemary Parmesan, chili lime, and grape just to name a few. This gourmet popcorn spot is a MUST visit if you're in the mood for a tasty snack.
- Ice Queen: I guess I have a thing for late night spots, but Ice Queen is the perfect open late, "I'm craving something greasy" kind of spot! Serving up fried chicken, burgers and fries on the menu, they're the perfect way to end a long night.
- Yo Cherry: I've visited both the location in Hamilton and St. George, both which have awesome frozen yogurt treats! They're self serve with sweet toppings and perfect for a quick treat while shopping around town.
Long story short, visiting Bermuda is always an unforgettable experience. The everyday views on this island are truly breathtaking and worth everyone seeing in their lifetime. I had the opportunity to see so much of the island this time around and can't wait for my next trip to uncover even more of what Bermuda has to offer.
Where are you traveling to next? Hopefully it's Bermuda! Let me know in the comments below and check out my birthday post featuring my Bermuda picnic.
